Kylie Kiser reviews what’s to come with Release Wave 1 of Power Automate, which is a low-code automation tool that includes both cloud and desktop flows.

Key Takeaways

  • Create a flow on a file in Teams: Users can apply templates to create a flow that runs on files within Microsoft Teams. AI can also be used to create that flow from scratch. This will become generally available in May.
  • Edit expressions: Copilot can now aid in editing expressions. Newer Power Automate users might have a hard time writing expressions, so this feature will be helpful. Users will be able to ask Copilot and it will provide suggested expressions.
  • Cloud flows: Various features are helping users do better with cloud flows. One new upgrade is that users will be able to create generative actions in cloud flows. Copilot will assist throughout the use and development of these flows. This feature is currently in preview mode and will be generally available in April.
  • Generate process maps and troubleshooting: This feature helps users identify where issues might be happening, essentially streamlining troubleshooting. It helps find issues within a process and where things might be failing. This will be coming out in September. A troubleshooting Copilot will also be coming out in June.
  • Desktop flows: One feature previously announced was the ability to build desktop flows by recording and providing additional information to help that desktop flow to be built. Then, Copilot will use that recording to build a desktop flow. This enables the creation of automation with natural language. This feature will be available in May.
