Focused View Updates on Dataverse Tables

What Is Focused View?

Focused view is an excellent control you can apply to a table that gives users a single-screen view of prioritized records. It was designed to allow users to better organize and work through tasks. In the below example, focused view is turned on for the Lead table. It shows active activity records that were created in the last 120 days.

In the focused view screen below, we see the following sections:

1. The view: Change your public and system view here and use the icons at the top of this box to search, filter and sort.
2. The records list: This shows a card formatted view of each record that meets the criteria. Depending on what your organization has configured, this can show associated activities, next best actions, predictive scoring and more. A system admin can configure additional work list cards or modify what is showing here by default.
3. The record details: Once a record is selected from your list, it shows a detailed view on the same page.

What’s New with Focused View?

There are two big news items announced in mid-January 2024:

1. Focused View is available on all tables, including custom tables!
2. Focused View can be configured in the Power Platform Admin Center!

Prior to this announcement, focused view was available on limited sales tables (Account, Contact, Lead and Opportunities). And when you did configure it, you needed to switch to classic and apply it the same way you would apply a view-level UI control (see here for full directions on how to do this).

How to Enable Focused View in the Power Platform Admin Center

1. Head over to the Power Platform Admin Center and select your Environment, then select Settings.
   
2. Expand the Product section, then click Features.
   
3. Scroll down until you see the Grids and views section on the left-hand side. Toggle Enable focused view for all records to On. Note: this will turn focused view on for all records on all tables.
   

Note: This new feature is currently rolling out to the Power Platform Admin Center. It Is not currently available (as of 1/23/2024 in the NAM region but will be soon. It is currently available in CAN and EUR regions, with new regions gaining access daily.
