The Power Platform 2024 Release Wave 2 updates are out! These release lists come out twice a year with features that will be coming to the platform. Wave 2 consists of features to be released from October 2024 through March 2025. I will be doing a series of blogs to cover the top features across the Power Platform!

Today we are talking about AI Builder.

AI Builder is a low-code AI platform that empowers users to harness the latest Azure AI models for building intelligent business solutions within the Power Platform. With AI Builder, you can customize AI models, including those powered by GPT and document intelligence. This low-code approach ensures accessibility for citizen developers while adhering to responsible AI principles and robust security measures.

Govern Access to AI Builder Models Through Admin Center

Admins can control who has access to AI capabilities, ensuring compliance with responsible AI requirements and promoting AI Builder adoption. Admins can enable or disable access to specific AI models across environments, enhancing governance of AI capabilities.

Try Out AI Builder with the Power Apps Developer Plan

With the Power Apps developer plan, you can now explore AI Builder capabilities in your developer environment before committing to AI capacity. You receive 20,000 credits per month, allowing you to customize models and integrate them into your flows and apps. It’s a fantastic way to discover the potential of AI Builder!

Review AI Generated Content with Validation Station

This new feature, called the Validation Station, allows users and makers to review AI-generated content. When AI prompts don’t match end users’ expectations, feedback can be provided. Makers receive notifications for reviews, can list feedback, and use few-shot learning to enhance AI prompt accuracy. It’s a valuable tool for refining responses!

Process and Generate Documents with Copilot Prompts

In March 2025, you will be able to process and generate documents directly from Copilot. You can extract key learning points from files and create new document templates, enhancing productivity. Attach files in the prompt builder dialog or include text extracted via OCR (optical character recognition) as part of the prompt instruction.

Add Unstructured Data Knowledge to GPT Prompts

The expanded data grounding feature in AI Builder prompts now includes support for both websites and documents. By seamlessly incorporating content from internet sources and enterprise documents, this enhancement enables AI prompts to utilize real-time and detailed knowledge. As a result, the AI can generate informed, accurate, and contextually relevant responses, enhancing decision-making and content creation.

Process Images with GPT in Prompt Builder

The new feature allows makers to associate image inputs and prompts with the GPT-4 with Vision model in prompt builder. This enhancement enables GPT-V to process images alongside text inputs, opening up scenarios like text recognition, image understanding, chart comprehension, and mathematical reasoning. Creators can now leverage visual data in addition to text for a broader range of applications.

Conclusion

That’s all for today’s quick review of some of the new features coming in the Power Platform 2024 Release Wave 2. Remember to test these items in a Sandbox before they are rolled out to your production environment! Also be sure to use the Release Planner to highlight the features you care about the most and monitor their release dates!
