In late January, Microsoft released the 2024 Wave 1 Release Notes, which covers new features that are expected to be released between April and September of 2024. There were some notable highlights that are of interest in the world of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources. Microsoft continues to innovate and introduce features meant to transform business through its Dynamics 365 offerings. 2024 will be the year of Copilot and AI, and Microsoft has not forgotten its ERP offerings as it innovates and automates. Here is a list of relevant highlights for D365 Human Resources.
Note that this list may not include everything and if you are interested in reading more about the Wave 1 Release plan for 2024, Microsoft provides a full list of expected features here.
Dynamics 365 Human Resources
While Microsoft does invest in its Human Resources offerings, Human Resources does seem to take a backseat to all other Finance and Supply Chain offerings. There are plenty of opportunities to turn the Human Resources module in D365FO into a world-class Human Resources suite, but for some reason, this is a low priority for Microsoft. In my humble opinion, there are so many ways to entice HR teams to bring all human resources activity into the same system of record as their ERP and reduce duplication of efforts, but that’s a story for another day!
The number of new features coming into D365FO for Human Resources is low, but there is an investment in using Copilot within Human Resources. Similar to the new features being offered in Finance and Supply Chain, Human Resources is getting a Copliot boost as well!
Explore recruiting Copilot scenarios
Expected release: September 2024
When recruiting for new positions, Copliot will review candidates and provide recommendations based on how well their skills, experiences, and attributes align with the requirements for an open role. This will be a great tool to help recruiters and hiring managers to reduce bias in the hiring process, promoting fairness in hiring processes.
Likewise, this feature will also aid in job description generation. This will reduce workload and streamline the hiring process – as long as the basic inputs are valuable and provide good information about the position.
Utilize Microsoft Entra ID integration
Expected release: September 2024
This is a huge improvement and should not be ignored. This feature came directly from the Ideas portal and was submitted by an end user, upvoted by the community, and is now being implemented. The process does work!
This is a direct integration between Microsoft Entra and D365 HR that will create a worker profile from data entered in Microsoft Entra. Updates to worker information will also be shared with the worker record in D365 HR as well, reducing the need for dual entry and reducing errors. This will be a huge process improvement!
Use recruiting for service centric organizations
Expected release: September 2024
Recruiting will be revamped yet again as Human Resources plans to leverage both Dynamics 365 Finance and Power Platform to align recruiting with the different personas involved in recruiting. This feature will allow the ability to create interview process templates, create talent pools, read candidate information from LinkedIn, and create job postings. Hiring managers will submit a request for a position through D365 Finance. Recruiters will use a model-driven Power App to manage the posting, and candidates will use a job portal built on Power Pages to apply and track progress.
