Earlier this year, the Dynamics 365 2024 Release Wave 1 features were announced. This covers new functionality planned to be delivered from April 2024 through September 2024. In this post, we will look at some of the updates that will be delivered in the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys area.
Release Wave 1 Themes
There are three main themes in the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys section of the release notes:
- AI and Copilot: It’s everywhere throughout the platform, and it’s no different in the traditional marketing area. Copilot becomes your AI companion to help achieve goals faster and more efficiently.
- Moments that matter: Taking real-time marketing and bringing it to moments! Another theme throughout these release items is the ability to connect with your prospects and customers at exactly the right time.
- Unify sales and marketing: This has always been the ultimate goal of a platform like Dynamics 365, but too often sales and marketing work is siloed. You will see items in this Release Wave designed specifically to bring them together and increase collaboration between sales and marketing teams.
There has been so much coverage on the AI and Copilot features coming to Dynamics 365. Let’s take a look at some of the “moments that matter” and “unify sales and marketing” updates coming that I am the most excited about.
Five Fantastic Features
As of the time of the writing, 19 features are new and planned that will be hitting Journeys over the next several months. I would like to highlight several here that I am excited to see:
1. Reach your customers at the right moment with send scheduling
This feature helps ensure that customers receive messaging through real-time journeys when they are most likely to engage. You can simply configure which specific day or days of the week, and even specific time windows overlaid with the customer’s habits, preferences, and most active hours. Even better: this will still respect any quiet times and frequency caps set elsewhere in Customer Insights – Journeys. This one is marked for public preview in April and will reach general availability in July 2024.

2. Optimize engagement and increase conversion rates with email A/B testing
This one brings A/B testing to real-time marketing, not just in outbound. A needed update to see in the real-time world! The screenshot shows us exactly what we expect to see and there’s no real functionality here. Happy to see this one arriving to real-time! This one lands in general availability in April 2024.

3. Qualify leads and route to sales when buying is likely
This update lets us define lead qualification criteria using several signals:
- Fit: Based on a lead profile attributes.
- Intent: Example – filling out a form, watching a demo, etc.
- Recency: When the lead was created.
- Engagement: Lead score exceeds the defined threshold.
This feature will reach general availability in April 2024.

4. Boost customer confidence with branded links for email and content
This is a big deal for people who want to use branded links! Instead of those automatically generated URLs, which may raise suspicion, you can customize links to show your company’s name! Sadly, there’s no date for general availability listed yet. But you can get your hands on this feature in public preview this April.

5. Engage customers with personalized messages based on website interactions
This allows you to generate a tracking script and embed it in your website. Then, using web interaction triggers, you will be able to create personalized customer experiences based on their engagement across all marketing collateral! This feature will reach general availability in June.
